Martin Kleppmann as Guest at KASTEL Security Research Labs
On Thursday, 10 October 2023, KASTEL Security Research Labs welcomed Martin Kleppmann as speaker of the KASTEL Distinguished Lecture Series in Cyber Security.
As part of the “KASTEL Distinguished Lecture Series” hosted by the KIT Graduate School Cyber Security, Gianluca Stringhini hold a lecture on November 5 titled “Improving the Moderation of False Information and Influence Campaigns on Social Media.”
Using clear and impressing examples, he illustrated to the engaged audience the various forms of false information found on popular social media platforms and highlighted the insufficient countermeasures implemented by platform operators. Together with his research group, he developed automated tools designed to more effectively detect false content and inauthentic accounts.
Numerous questions from the audience reflected the strong interest in this topic.
Gianluca Stringhini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boston University. His research takes a data-driven approach to better identify and understand malicious activities on the Internet.
