Insights and Exchange: Winter Colloquium 2026, KASTEL Security Research Labs

On February 25, the 2026 Winter Colloquium of the KASTEL Security Research Labs took place—once again an exceptionally successful evening of scientific exchange.

The well-attended event began with two engaging presentations:

Ralf Floca (DKFZ Heidelberg) presented “Between Data Flood and Dark Data: Unlocking the Future of Medical Imaging with Secure AI.” He discussed, among other things, the challenges of protecting intellectual property and ensuring data privacy.

The two talks were accompanied by an impressive demonstration by Felix Dörre (KASTEL SRL), who showed how an AI computation can be executed from the DKFZ’s Kaapana platform within a cryptographic enclave—fully protected from exposure to sensitive data.

Linda Nierling (ITAS) spoke on “Technology Assessment for Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Transformation,” offering valuable insights into assessing AI applications.

After the talks, various research groups and laboratories showcased their current scientific results in a poster session. The lively discussions at the posters illustrated just how enriching it was to gain insights into the work of colleagues.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone whose contributions made this diverse and inspiring program possible!
