Jörn Müller-Quade about quantum computers and cryptography

On Friday, September 18, Prof. Dr. Jörn Müller-Quade, spokesperson for the KASTEL Security Research Labs, gave a talk at the annual meeting of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians (GDNÄ) in Bremen titled: “What Can Quantum Computers Do, and How Do They Threaten Our Encryption Methods?”.

In his talk, he provided fascinating insights into the world of quantum computing. He explained why we assume that quantum mechanics accurately describes nature, and how the superposition of multiple quantum states can help solve particularly challenging computational problems. He also explored the question of how novel cryptographic methods can still be secure.

The talk gave the audience a clear and accessible overview of the potential of quantum computing and the importance of quantum-secure cryptography.
