Kenneth Paterson, professor at ETH Zurich, gave a lecture titled “Cryptography in the Wild” as part of the “Distinguished Lecture Series” of the KIT Graduate School Cyber Security. Using selected examples, he illustrated how cryptography is used in practice, and how such applications can be identified and subjected to security analysis.
Before his talk, he took the opportunity to visit KASTEL Security Research Labs during his stay at KIT. There, he learned about current research on secure payment systems, reliable voting machines, and secure multi party computation, including examples drawn from modern messaging services. After the demonstration, there followed a lively scientific exchange with the researchers from KASTEL Security Research Labs.
